Mad World

I wasted a few moments of my life with reading / hearing about these three unforgettable utterances, so allow me to waste some of yours. I believe not a few brain cells were sacrificed just so these seemingly innocent words be put together and heard out by the unsuspecting public. I’m quite bothered that there really are people who can come up with something like these with a straight face:

“There was no bus strike (last Monday). Nagkasabay lang na ‘di pumasok ang mga driver.”

IMBOA president Claire De La Fuente proposing that drivers went on an impromptu holiday, without regard for your ability to reason.

“There are similarities, pero sa pagkakaalam ko… sa atin mas makulay…”

Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim on how Filipino tourism officers’ minds are somehow in unison with that of the Polish Tourism Department - only that our minds are just a bit more colorful (and with a tarsier).

And before you blame inhalation of too much diesel engine exhaust as the main culprit why people here in our kay gandang country have been acting / saying strange things lately, think again:

”When I look at my GM/executive record, if I’m evaluated on that, then whoever’s after Donnie (Walsh, NYKnicks President) if you’re not talking about some of the top people in the game, I’ll put my draft evaluation record up against anyone’s.”

That was former Knicks GM Isiah Thomas making a case for a second tour of duty with the New York Knicks after pretty much screwing everything up during his (un)forgettable stint.

As Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago succintly puts it:

“Their neurons are not working.”

And since today’s a Friday (Magic Madness over at 89.9 DWTM) and I’m officially on weekend mode, let me just say that it is indeed a very, very Mad World!
